Blackmail, Bring It All Back, Bring Me Your Cup (Music Videos)

The Bring It All Back Session

This was basically a practice session. Three songs I’m working on: Robert Palmer’s “Blackmail,” from Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley (debut, 1974), S Club’sBring it All Back (Debut, 1999) and UB40’s “Bring Me Your Cup” from 1993’s standout “Promises and Lies.

I was twelve when the Robert Palmer album came out! I was always an early adopter of cool stuff! The song “Blackmail” was written by Palmer and Lowell George; George would become one of my musical heroes! It was down and dirty disco rock, unabashed, surrounded by girls in short dresses – Palmer would make Tom Jones blush, and enjoy a long pop music career after this strong solo debut.

The other two bands are British favorites. S Club was a 7-piece vocal act featuring an all star cast of four girls and three boys, who made skits and music videos, creating new TV visuals for music!  Steady Rachel Lauren Stevens (born 9 April 1978) would go on to become a worldwide crush, flipping her brunette bangs while across the pond Jennifer “Rachel” Aniston’s TV sitcom “Friends” was becoming a big hit. S Club’s main competition in the sugary pop market were a Swedish group called A*Teens, who started out doing modern covers of ABBA songs, and Britney Spears, who, with fewer bandmates to share with and unquestionably better management, is worth 59-million today versus Stevens’ paltry 3-million.

But you basically can’t have a bad blog post if it has a photo of Rachel Stevens in it. Here she is! Thank you, Rachel! We appreciate you!

And “Promises and Lies” is the tenth album by the British reggae band UB40. It’s the band’s best-selling album, having sold over 9 million copies, according to Wikipedia! I learned the song “Bring Me Your Cup” just today! Reggae drummer needed!

You can see Rachel singing and dancing in the video below mine! Please browse around for more great music videos, from myself and others, out in the field!

Here’s my show! Turn it up! 🙂
