The Very Last Snow
To see the colors in the fall
To see the seasons roll along
It all surrounds this simple soul
I plan to miss it when I’m gone
In Autumn your mums will fade on you
And you’ll share that watermelon you grew
Every single day will be new
But every one might be the last one too
How will we know
If it’s the very last snow?
Will it cover the ground
Without making a sound?
As the world turns grey
In its muscular glory
We can’t see past the sun
And we won’t know when to run
The planet is redeemable
She can last forever
When I close my eyes I find myself
Carousing down the river
It’s been quite an enjoyable ride
With a breeze goin’ ’round the bend
When I close my eyes I find myself
Not caring bout when it will end
A long field, covered in white
Is sharpened by the wise sunlight
Your palette, like a stamp of life
Will be fondly remembered by your eyes
Take it deep! Embrace what you see!
Truly it’s not just some fields and some trees
It’s an experience made just for you
A universe changing every day as you grew
Will it make you aspire to enrich your heart?
There’s no reason why you can’t get started
One day you’ll wake and out the window you’ll see
It snowed, but you’d carelessly fallen asleep
Forever will mean whatever I want
One day it will all just fit in a box
The lemonade stand, seems like ages ago
Those long hikes and the smiling face on the dog
We’re all looking for something to love!
And you know we’re due for a pretty big storm
Love the land and protect it like you love your own self
‘Till the day you put that box on the shelf
It’s been quite an enjoyable ride
With a breeze goin’ ’round the bend
When I close my eyes I find myself
Not caring bout when it will end
