I didn’t make this video, and don’t have much to say about it. It’s a funny video that focuses on a deadly issue. Comedy about illness.
That may sound bad, but it’s not.
As social creatures, humans listen gladly to jokes, and often derive meaning from them. It can be a way to really send home a message. This video, “It’s Beginning To Look a Lot Like Genocide,” is the modern version of a radio hit from the 60’s, the “I-Feel-Like-I’m-Fixin’-to-Die Rag,” which protested the war in Vietnam with lines like “Be the first one on the block to have your boy come home in a box!” Continue reading “It’s Beginning To Look a Lot Like Genocide”
As I sat on the train
I met an interesting man
Both on the same journey
To some exciting new land
I told him the story
Of how I grew up
Back roads and back woods
Where we ran with our pups
We were just getting started
On an adventurous roam
I was just getting started
At missing my home Continue reading “Family Man (a poem)”
Close your eyes and see bright skies
Let the moonlight be our guide
I’ll tell you everything my dear
If we can run away and hide
It’s not the people that I fear
Not anything wrong with this place here
I see myself a living beggar
But I can give you something better
The jewel was not thrown in the sea
It’s in your eyes where value gleams Continue reading “On The Bay (a poem)”
My Many Personalities!
We’re on a mighty trip!
We never get it right!
But God grades on a curve
You get what you deserve! A song!
By popular demand (not my cat!) I’ll do a Turkey Day share.
This is still in process, and represents my latest project.
It’s called “Neaky Freat.”
It’s about dancing.
I play all the instruments, designed the drums and wrote the tune.
Working on this in iMovie as I migrate to a better interface (DaVinci).
Also getting to know Apple Motion a little better, which is fun!
At this point, I haven’t added the bass guy, some FX and finishing. Continue reading “Neaky Freat”
Just Let Time Go Slow
You look into my soul
Right in to my eyes
Like a gun you hold
Nothing left to be told
Sometimes I don’t eat
Worry like a lost sheep
Feel so vulnerable
Then you do what you do
I’m in poverty
And you’re peeling away
And I wish you would do it
Do it all day
I’m surrendering now
You know I know how
The connection is easy
Just let time go slow
And the invisible beat
It’s at all of our feet
You look into my heart
While I’m watching the show
It’s a dance party
That goes on for years Continue reading “Just Let Time Go Slow”
Loaf of Bread
Sliced bread ain’t that great
Certainly not the best thing I ever ate
Please allow me to elucidate
I know somethin’ better!
When she walks in the room I turn to butter
Better than just about anything ever
No loaf of bread could come near looking better
Especially when she’s in her white sweater
So she’s out in the sun and she’s perfectly toasted
And if I had some jelly and some coffee I roasted
We could clean up the cupboards and toss out the rotted
And we could run on the beach ’till we’re totally wasted Continue reading “Loaf of Bread”
Come to rest here on my nest
As you migrate from the wild west
So much more beautiful than the rest!
I don’t even wonder why!
I find you so perfect
I don’t even know your name!
Or a flutter from a flick!
My love for nature’s bounty reigns
My country ’tis of nature’s ways Continue reading “What I Do at 2:25 AM (a poem)”
We Got Your Back
The capitol’s surrounded by eight foot fences
But nobody’s sure what they’re defendin’
My mama taught me to double check my sources
I got all day and I’m gonna dance on the tension
This world’s spinning in a field of black holes
Up high in the mountains it’s as perfect as gold
The view on my horse and that settin’ sun
My freedom’s the glimmer off the side of my gun
We love you nature, yea, we got your back
All them fossil fuels coming out our smokestacks
Some people say we’re gonna stop spinnin’ soon!
I got all day and I’m just gonna try and be cool Continue reading “We Got Your Back (A Poem For 2021)”
A Lovely Poem
about being who I am
This won’t take too long!
White, heterosexual, Catholic and skinny!
It’s an ongoing project!
Stop telling me that’s bad.
Stop telling me I have a choice!
Stop telling me lies about my own faith!
I eat anything I want.
… to be continued …
Would you rather be a bunny
Just sniffin’ all around
Hoppin’ and chompin’
Listenin’ to the sounds
Just so soft and fluffy
You don’t even need to try
I can never tell
If you’re lookin’ me in the eye!
Would you rather be a fluffy bunny
Sittin’ in the breeze Continue reading “Would You Rather Be a Bunny (a poem)”
In yesterday’s America
I haven’t broken any laws
The subject matter’s fascinating
But it’s been goin’ on too long
I’m just gettin’ started but I
Sometimes wonder if I should
There aren’t any rules
In tomorrow’s neighborhood
The news has been consuming
YouTube is quite the bomb
God bless the Bill of Rights Continue reading “Yesterday’s America (a poem)”
I finally made it!
Here I am!
I wrote this song
Been planning this move
Perfecting my groove Continue reading “Get To The Garden (a poem)”
Low Resolution Love
Once I found a fiddlestick
As I was wandering
The bees and birds and foxes too
Would follow me as if I knew Continue reading “Low Resolution Love (A Poem)”
