Love Yourself (Sheeran) – Mark Urso

So, I saw a great band, and they did this song, so I went home and figured it out. The only problem is, I’m not as great as they are!

Love Yourself

But I’m trying! Playing with a Boss VE-8 Acoustic Singer pedal, with no amp. The electric guitar is plugged into the pedal, which goes into my recording DAW. The pedal arrangement on the VE-8 is quite excellent. In all my time playing with audio equipment, I’ve never before met a guitar pedal I really liked until this one!

“Love Yourself” is written by Ed Sheeran. As the story goes, he wrote it for Rihanna, but then got with Justin Bieber, who made a huge hit out of it, Bieber’s biggest ever. And the story made it to the infamous Howard Stern show, where Sheeran admitted to Stern the phrase “you should go and … “ was originally followed with the F-word … then they changed it to love yourself,” but the phrasing suggests … the F-word!

… which makes a lot of sense!

Boss Acoustic Singer VE-8 – This is how it was set up.

Either way, the sentiment is lovely and wildly applicable in my own life! It’s a pleasure to disassemble these songs and try to represent them! I hope I pass muster; feel free to comment below!
