On The Bay (a poem)

Close your eyes and see bright skies
Let the moonlight be our guide
I’ll tell you everything my dear
If we can run away and hide

It’s not the people that I fear
Not anything wrong with this place here
I see myself a living beggar
But I can give you something better

The jewel was not thrown in the sea
It’s in your eyes where value gleams
And it’s easier to feel the scene
To dream of waves on a cloudy day

My mind takes care of it for me
I lose myself in a constant stream
I swim and fish and dance and play
And see boats jiggling on the bay

You will be saved
You’ll ride the waves
In a teacup you’ll topple
And it will feel simple

Will anyone ride the waves with me!
Come rest your head and feel the breeze
Redefine what easy means
And come back to the land of dreams

Close your eyes and see bright skies
Let the moonlight be our guide
I’ll tell you everything my dear
If we can run away and hide
