Unbroken Chain, Mark Urso

This is for all you Grateful Dead fans!  Unbroken Chain, Phil Lesh’s composition from the “From the Mars Hotel” (1974) album.

From Wikipedia: From the Mars Hotel is the seventh studio album by rock band the Grateful Dead. It was mainly recorded in April 1974, and originally released June 27, 1974. It was the second album by the band on their own Grateful Dead Records label.

Lyrics:

Blue light rain
Whoa, unbroken chain
Looking for familiar faces
In an empty window pane

Listening for the secret
Searching for the sound
But I could only hear the preacher
And the baying of his hounds

Willow sky
Whoa, I walk and wonder why
They say love your brother
But you will catch it when you try

Roll you down the line boy
Drop you for a loss
Ride you out on a cold railroad
And nail you to a cross

November and more
As I wait for the score
They’re telling me forgiveness
Is the key to every door

A slow winder day
A night like forever
Sink like a stone
Float like a feather

And here are the EZ Chords for this tune.

Note I don’t do the whole tune (yet). The full song continues with a transitional instrumental that’s quite lively, then into one more verse and chorus (I don’t include those parts here).

As you can see, there’s nothing EZ about most Grateful Dead songs, and this is a good example! I do believe if you watch my video I get them all right! 🙂

Songwriters: Philip Lesh / Robert M. Peterson

Peace, friends!
