Where The Goblins Go (A Song!)

And now for something completely different!

This is from my CD “Share The Moon!” It’s called “Where The Goblins Go,” and was inspired by traditional creepiness for children from the popular movie “The Wizard of Oz!” The original song “Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead!” was written in 1939!

This is my late entry for Halloween, as my house was out of power because of a big storm and I was not able to post for a couple days. It was dark, and spooky quiet!

The lyrics are below the song. Enjoy!

While you’re listening, you can also enjoy this article I didn’t either write or read yet … but seems interesting … titled “Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos Wants to Colonize The Moon!”

Where The Goblins Go

Adapted from “Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead” (Arlen/Harburg)

We welcome you to Munchkinland!
Wake up you sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed!
Wake up, the wicked witch is dead!

Wicked wicked witch of the west!
Your flying monkeys were the best
It’s a famous story you know the rest
She melted at the end it was no contest

Dorothy’s asleep in a poppy field
Dumb old tin man what’s the deal
The lion could-a made the scarecrow a meal
That’s just me tryin’ to keep it real!

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain
He’s just there to keep things workin’
Pushin’ knobs and pullin’ levers
He’s either a wizard or really clever

(Bridge:)

How could you destroy such beautiful wickedness!
How could you kill the witch
How could you stop her devious plans
To leave you lyin’ in a ditch

Hello goodbye yellow brick road
Some things they really just never get old
It’s the laughter I feel comin’ from my mind
Old memories these days aren’t hard to find

Wicked wicked witch of the west!
Rollin around in my memory chest
Stirrin’ up a real witches brew
And your little dog little dog Toto too!

Oh take me back to Munchkinland
A time I find so fondly at hand
I don’t care if I land on my head!
The dancin’s good and the witch is dead!

Wicked wicked witch of the west!
You’re my favorite witch of all I guess
You really gonna kill me for these ruby shoes
Now I know – you’re not waterproof!

Ding dong the witch is dead!
Which old witch? The wicked witch!
Ding dong the wicked witch is dead!
Let the joyous news be spread!
The wicked old witch at last is dead!
Ding dong the wicked witch is dead!

“We thank you very sweetly, for doing it so neatly
You’ve killed her so completely,
That we thank you very sweetly!”

Let the joyous news be spread!
The wicked old witch at last is dead!
